Butterfield’s Phosphate Buffer, pH 7.2 is used for preparation of microbiological dilution blanks. It is used rather than unbuffered water in order to standardized this potential variable due to the lot to lot variation in the pH of distilled water. Butterfield’s Phosphate Buffer is specified by the American Public Health Association (APHA) for use in diluting test samples. It is specified for use in diluting water, dairy products and food for microbiological methods. Butterfield’s Phosphate Buffer is also used as a diluent for the preparation of dilutions in plate count and other laboratory processes.
Butterfield’s Phosphate Buffer is formulated according to the standard in the Compendium of Methods for the Microbiological Examination of Foods.(1)
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Our Butterfield’s Phosphate Buffer is not intended to be used for the diagnosis of disease, clinical or therapeutic purposes in human and animal.
